The ultimate solution to mail theft and vandalism It is an investment, not a purchase
In 1994, the idea for Fort Knox Mailbox® was born. Because of numerous mail thefts and mailbox vandalism, the original Fort Knox
Mailbox®, which today is called the Small Standard mailbox, was created. Just as Fort Knox, KY is famous for its security of gold,
this new steel mailbox is famous for its security of mail. The name “Fort Knox” was so appropriate, that the creators adopted it and
became known for their high security mailboxes. Fort Knox Mailbox® has continued growing since 1994, mostly through word of mouth as neighbors shared with one
another their satisfaction with their new mailboxes. Unable to keep up with the necessary high production from a garage, the move to a shop was necessary. As it became
clear that these mailboxes could sell nationwide, production expanded again in 1997, and an entire line of Fort Knox Mailboxes® was created. New products and many
customers to the business brought new ideas for the safety and security of mail delivery. As
of 2006, more than 6,000 Fort Knox Mailboxes® have been sent throughout the United States and world-wide.
Here are the mailboxes that started it all! These not so "Standard" mailboxes can be distinguished
from other Fort Knox mailboxes because they have only one lockable bottom door with an above
open mail incoming slot. These mailboxes can be ordered as a "Single Service" mailbox, or you can add an outgoing mail capability. When the outgoing mail option (which includes a flag) is added, mail is placed on a shelf between the locked door and the incoming slot
Differences between the Large Standard [above right] and Small Standard [at left] mailboxes include mail storage capacity (+2"H +2"W +2"D), and size of the
post (4"x4" steel post for Small Standard / 5" x 5" steel post for the Large Standard). A flag and outgoing
capability can be added to both of these mailboxes for an additional cost. Both Standard mailboxes are made of the same 1/4" steel shell with 3/16" reinforced
doors as is true with all these mailboxes.
The mail-carrier inserts the incoming mail into the slot (9.5"W or 11.5"W x 1.75"H). Outgoing mail rests
below the incoming slot with an optional outgoing mail capability added. Although there is no door concealing the outgoing mail like the other mailbox
models, outgoing mail is still available. The body of the mailbox has an overhang that will provide protection from vandalism and rain. The door is held
closed with an included 7 pin tubular pick-proof lock and incoming mail will rest behind this locked door after the mail-carrier drops it in the slot.
Voted the best locking residential mailbox in the world. Made in the USA
